What You See Is Not Me

You see me smile on the outside.

But that’s all you can see.

What if tears run down my face on the inside?

You hear me laugh on the outside.

But that’s all you can hear.

What if I’m crying out for help on the inside?

You smell the scent I wear everyday on the outside.

But that’s all you can smell.

What if it is the smell of a rotting body on the inside?

You watch me speak fluently on the outside.

But that’s all you can watch.

What if I stammer with words on the inside?

You feel my clear skin on the outside.

But that’s all you can feel.

What if I have hundreds of scars on the inside?

You taste my lips kissing you on the outside.

But that’s all you can taste.

What if my lips taste of blood on the inside?

You witness me facing everything on the outside.

But that’s all you can witness.

What if I am very tired on the inside?

You can tell I’m happy on the outside.

But that’s all you can tell.

What if l I’m dying on the inside?

  1. Good poem – it is always a good idea to just be ourselves and show others, who we are. There are no need to hide.

We can only read what we see..you present a mask that’s what people read..you have to choose to be vulnerable and reveal what’s behind it..

But still a beautiful peice of writing

I’ve to say; amazing writing! This poem described myself in so many ways, I wrote a song about it when it was at its worse, and it actually helped a lot to put my feelings into words, just like you’ve done with your poem.
I wish I could make you feel better – I think it’s very important to keep in mind that our worth is not in what we do, but who we are.

Beautifully written. Often people do not realise what lies inside.
Often people master the art of disguise making it difficult to see what lies inside.

One forms a deep emotional connection with your poetry. Your poems are mostly about simple feelings or emotions but then again, they are the most difficult to write too. But you have a talent to write them with such an ease, I am very impressed. Keep up the good work. Hope you publish them someday. I will totally buy it. 😀 Take care

Wow great piece! I enjoyed that made me wonder just how many others feel that way. Sometimes our outer shell don’t quite match how we truly feel inside, but in time we all heal our inner wounds when we face them head on!
