And waits……..
Until you’re ready,
Then closes in and devours you…
From the inside out.
All you see is shadows of the ones you once knew,
Happiness no more,
Laughter no more,
No more love,
Like a thunderstorm that blocks your soul.
Your soul becomes a black hole,
Whatever said, heard, or learned,
Is forgotten, never brought up again,
No longer does anything matter,
Its all darkness,
Darkness is all I see
Like a plague that never goes away.

I am in that darkened tunnel quite often… maybe I will find you there and we can share a cup of coffee and laugh about meeting in such an unusual place…
Hope your day is filled with brighter moments…

Nice read.
How do we see darkness anyway?
Isn’t it supposed to be something or nothing?
If you see nothing, then you need to open your eyes and let good images form in your mind.
If you see something, then there is a light, a hope. Search for it and even though the night seem to tarry, it doesn’t take away the fact that the light is waiting to lead you through.

Darkness has been used as a metaphor here. However, thank you for your elaborate perception of different aspects of it.

Nicely done, and I love the image. I also really like the name of your blog–subdued flamboyance is a great oxymoron.

Every shadow of this darkness swallows within itself the last drops of memory, and it rewrites them, robbing them of all their colours… Leaving us with a terrible, emotionless after taste of nothing… Sorrow, here you come…

Absolutely, very well explained & perhaps these lines could aptly fit in the poem too. It seems that could identify your own self with the composition.

What stands out to me so strongly, is your choice in the photo used. Spiritually – a lite cross of hope surrounds the hurting person, as a Christian it represents God being there, even in darkness.
