The worst has already passed

When you feel so lonely and can’t sleep at night,
because everything gives you a fright.
The pain and the sadness takes control,
and once again you’re all alone.

I love darkness, I am afraid of the light, the only light I love staring at, is the moonlight.

I devote myself to acting happy,
but at night when I’m all alone,
some how it all spills out,
when no-one can see, and no-one can hear.
All of the pain and all of the fear.

Each day I live, the pain consumes,
What little sanity I have bloomed.
Like walking in a cloud of fog,
Falling down, sinking into smog.

Down in a black hole trying to escape depression,
But you can’t run away from what will always be your reflection.
And as you run away reality is getting nearer,
And instead of changing you, you try to change the mirror.
But what do you do when the mirror falls down?
Breaking apart as it hits the ground.

But now I am stronger; stronger than before.
Because I have realized, fear can only be bad if you imagine it more & more.
And sorrow comes with tears just as gray clouds come with rain,
And then it will pass quicker than it came.
So just be proud you didn’t cut yourself with the mirror’s glass,
And just know that the worst already passed.

Amen to that the worst already passed. Very touching poem. “you can’t run away from what will always be your reflection.
And as you run away reality is getting nearer,” absolutely amazing lines. I have written on the same topic here – https://dailyluge.wordpress.com/2015/07/23/walls-of-waves/

We mask our feelings and put on a good show for others to see. To let them thought that we are alright and everything is fine when we are breaking inside. But at the end of the day, we fool ourselves when we tried to fool them instead.

    1. To an extent, I do agree with you. Sometimes we do fool ourselves hiding behind a mask but I believe, the person who is able to smile on the outside in spite of grief rotting them from inside, is a strong one!

  24. This is incredible man. I especially liked the following lines:

“Down in a black hole trying to escape depression,
But you can’t run away from what will always be your reflection.
And as you run away reality is getting nearer,
And instead of changing you, you try to change the mirror.”

The only way to combat depression is to change the way you see the world which ultimately will start to rekindle the damaged relation with self and all being.

    Brilliant poem man!

“Because I have realized, fear can only be bad if you imagine it more & more.”
This is so true. All that we fear is basically just a part of our imagination; it is all a state of mind and can only affect you as much as you allow it to.
I personally believe that we should face fear with courage and once we understand it, we should let it go.
Abhinav, your writings are splendid ! Each piece is a work of art, beautiful in its own unique way. I adore the fact that you share such meaningful content that can help so many individuals in so many different ways. I definitely look forward to more from your end 😀

    1. First of all, thank you so much for such an elaborate feedback. Much appreciated! I do try to instill positivity & provoke thoughts for any cause through my poetic compositions. Also, to quote Les Brown, “So many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears”. When we start to understand the fact that our longest fear carries our greatest growth, life gets easier. May we let our faith conquer our fears! Thank you, again! Great to find such a wonderful analyst of my poems in you & hopefully, a friend.

Your welcome! Not to be too optimistic but I believe every setback, ever loss gives us a reason to rise with better potential, to reach to great heights. But, we often happen to neglect the process and this is what leads to discontentment.
It was nice talking to you, Abhinav. And I’m glad I came across your blog 🙂
